Hey Steve, although that kid was not european, there is a video of some austrian guy singing the same song. I'm pretty sure he's drunk, and he is most definitely foreign. He's kinda old, but maybe pat can relate to him.

And you're right, it loses something in the translation.

The name of the song is Dragostea Din Tei by Ozone (a Romanian group). I have a few European friends and a few other friends who wished they were European.

Amazing that this kid made a stupid home video with his webcam or whatever, and the recognition it's getting. I had a friend send it to me a month ago, and next thing I knew it's featured on Best Week Ever and the Buzz List. There are so many people making videos just like this who have way too much time on their hands..... and I appreciate their efforts.

And as for his New Jersey-ness.... I should've known.

Well I just gotta say that kis has class. For one reason: That little eyebrow arch-y thing he does with those high pitched noises in the song. That is 100% classy.

I don't find any of this Numa Numa stuff funny. So they're dancing. So they're lip synching. So they're fat. But it doesn't come close to being on par with the Star Wars kid. Dumb, but not funny.

Funny the "kid" is getting talked about here. I, myself, put him on my blog...an infertility blog of whining and bitching...he was sort of my mascot as well as a few other women. So here is the thing..being the dork that I am I researched to find all that I could about this kid.

I was so disappointed when I found out that he was a boring american. Did I tell my fellow bloggers or friends who I ensconced into repetitive watchings of the "kid"?

You bet your ass I did not. Because I knew the tortuous truth about "the kid". Yes, I carry this burden even now...months later. It is a hard struggle but one that I must endure for the sake of my blogging and human friends. They must never find out.

I still love the kid..even had thoughts of stealing him ....well I am infertile you know so we infertilites dream about snatching unattended babies out of grocery store shopping carts and I figure this kid would be fun to have around. Geesh! People...do not look at me strange or trace my URL I will not be stealing any kids anytime soon.

Just thought I should post this, O'Zone - Dragostea Din Tei is huge everywhere in Europe and that includes here in Israel. When it came out it was on the radio non-stop. That's it.

I was surprised to hear that a video had managed to make the internet rounds without my having caught it -- but now I see why. It really isn't funny.

I would like to throw my support behind Angelcat's offer, however.

I say that we should understand this for what it is... a celebration of individuality.

Actually, you will hea this song ("Dragostea Din Tei") quite often on Sirius Satellite Radio's station 66 "The Beat" performed both by O-Zone and by Haiducii. I think I've heard it on XM's channel 81 "BPM" as well.

Personally, I thought this was MORE hilarious when I found out the guy was American. I don't know if he knew the words to the song or what they meant, and if not, he's doing a really good job of phonetically lip synching. It's funny. The eyebrows get me every time. Rock on!!!

Reminds me of lostfrog.org, a flyer for a lost toy frog suddenly became internet legend, turns out the 'kid' was actually 18 years old and severely autistic. Kind of a sad end to a funny story

I can't understand why the kid doesn't capitalize on his noteriety. I'm sure there's someone out there that would pay him to endorse deodorant or web hosting.

Do you think that when he uploaded the video to the internet he thought no one would see it???? He did it voluntarily, unlike the Star Wars kid who just made the mistake of not erasing the tape b4 he went home. I am in my 40's and if anyone had put a camera in my room while I was singing along to my record player with a hair brush, I would have been famous too! I did a mean Steve Perry (right), and could sing the heck out of the Grease soundtrack.
